Albums
The discography of the American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and several compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group’s collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.
Turn Back, Toto’s third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985 the group’s singer Fergie Fredericksen quit the group, and they held auditions to choose a new frontman. The band chose guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The group went through old recordings and tapes to create the album. The album was well received by fans and the band embarked on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
